I Missed May!

Yes, I was home ... yes I wasn't on the road, yes I was writing & recording .... no I didn't update.
My bad.
I'd like to start by saying how upset I was by missing Toddstock. If anyone should have been there it was Moi. Todd is the one person throughout my career that has been a constant. For good reason too. But alas ... I couldn't be in two places at once and I made a decision that I had to stick by. Pesky decisions ... they can be so tiring at times.
I'm know everyone in attendance had a great time and even though it might sound trite, I was there in spirit.

Currently, I'm in Plymouth England. Somewhere near the coast. A place where chilly weather and rain rule.
We had our first show here tonight and it went extremely well. We're doing a spate of new songs and had a great time trying to make sure the 'clams' were kept at bay (or IN the bay, or under the sand in the bay ... thats where clams live anyway).
Patti Russo ... I didn't realize how much she was missed until tonight. She was the best, is the best and will always be the best foil for Meat Loaf that has ever held a mic and sang a song with him. CC's no slouch either ... she has a couple solo spots in the show and just keeps getting better and better with every tour she does. Between the two of them, they make this show the best one we've done in a very long time.
This particular tour has a story line that weaves through the first song all the way up to, and including 'Paradise'. It's not at all hard to follow and personally, I think it works really well.
For the first show, I couldn't have asked for more from a bunch of very talented musicians.
We have a ways to go before we're done and I can only imagine it's going to get better.

There is a slim chance I may do one or two solo shows on this run. If I do, it will consist of me searching out acoustic cafe's on a day off and seeing if I can get a spot performing that night. I know thats no way to let anyone know but I wasn't able to secure any definite bookings before I left the US. Maybe it's a good way for me to start a grass roots movement to come back and tour over here in the future. It's always baby steps isn't it?
I'll be posting some Backstage Pass vid's along with updating here more often.
In the mean time, it's off to Cork Ireland tomorrow...
See you down the road, on the road, off the road ... Why don't we do it in the road? Nah... I'm too shy.

Hey K.
I really did enjoy your newest journal entry.
It has been some time. It is fun to hear/read
what you have to say.
Hope you find a sweet little place to take
some time for yourself and play your music.

Or, just be a "busker"!! Yes?

Hi Kasim,

why don't you do a solo show in Berlin or somewhere else in Germany. I think you have lots of fans in Germany.
Whatever, I'm looking forward to see you at the ML concert in Berlin.

See you!

Kasim,

My uncle missed you at Toddstock and he and I both missed you at Todd's show Sunday at the Cleveland House of Blues. I was lucky enough to get to meet Todd and it would have been even better if I woulda had the chance to meet you too! Woulda loved to get my "Quid pro Quo" autographed.

Hope you can make it back to Cleveland for another solo show eventually... you managed to play the last two on the days I had to go back to school for fall and winter terms :(

Keep rockin with Meat

-Matt
