Notes from the Tundra

Man is it cold here or what? Above is a quick shot of myself with a new fan ... Caroline.
Her Dad took her to our show tonight in Milwaukee at The Pabst Theater. They were sitting in the front row and I nearly took this poor childs right eye out with a pick. After meeting her and her Dad, and apologizing for nearly blinding her, I thought I would try my best to make up for it by posting her picture here. She was a sweetheart and it's always good to see young people at the shows.
We've been venturing into the 'too cold to go anywhere' region of the country for the past week. The last two days were spent in Minneapolis where the high for the week was +9. The HIGH for the week! I have a friend who lives there and when I asked him how on earth he puts up with it, he said "Oh it's not that bad." HUH? Eddie ... get a grip man! This weather is only normal if you're a Penguin or a Polar Bear! Tomorrow we go to Chicago and I doubt it will be any better temperature wise.
As always, these shows are the best. We usually arrive at the venue around 5 for soundcheck, do a couple songs, pick at the deli tray, watch Randy scurry about the stage setting everything up then, it's Show Time. They call these types of tour's 'Plug In And Play'. Mainly because thats about all you do. No stage set, no pyro, no lighting rig, no Tour Manager, no Tour Assistant, no catering (only if you count the deli tray), no Tour Bus, no Private Planes, no Ritz Carltons or Four Seasons, no one picking up my bags an hour before lobby call, no daily sheets, no bed's, no shoes, no Promoter Dinners, and the best is ... NO COMPLAINING! Ummmmmm, wait a second .... THIS SUCKS! No, only kidding. I love it. The set flies by. No sooner do I get on stage than I realize we're doing Mystified (oddly enough a Utopia song) and theres only another 20 minutes left in the show.
The audience is always great. The fans ... our fans .... my fans .... are the best. I do my best to make it out to the house afterwards to show my appreciation for the years of support Todd and myself have gotten.
There's only one week left on this run but I'm sure Todd will be doing this show again in the not-to-distant future. At least I hope so.
I'm gearing up for the March solo dates and I've been told that by end of next week all the dates will be confirmed. Right now only the beginning and end is etched in stone.
Please, please try and make it to one or more of the shows as I will be doing some new material and will have at least one new face on stage with me.
I hope you're all well and safe. I'm looking forward to some warmer days ahead!
Kasim

That cold weather is insane! You need to spend some serious time in Florida, where we have been in the 70's and 80's most of the month. I'm anxiously awaiting news on a (or more than one?) Florida solo show(s), we'll be there without a doubt!
Hey Kas,
Yeah, it's a little chilly in the midwest... HA! We may get used to it, but it's still dang cold... Thank goodness for Todd tours and Kasim solo shows to help warm our hearts! See you in Chicago March 22 :)
Hugs - Laura
Hi Kasim,
I would have to agree with Sherrie, you are due for some Florida time. I tried my best to bring the sunshine and warm weather North with me, but I failed miserably. What was it 6 degrees in Indy? Brrr... I should have done the shirts in long sleeves! If Todd does do more dates try and get him to book down South. He can call it the "Thaw Your A$$ Out" tour! :)
Can't wait for the solo shows! Try and stay warm and be careful of young people's eyes! ;-)
See you soon!
peace and love,
Carrie
Hi Kasim,
did you not grow up in New York??? last time I looked it snows there too. It's calling for -1 on Sunday when you all come to Toronto on Sunday..and I'll have a big warm hug waiting for ya!
hoping and praying for a Toronto date on your solo tour in March and anxiously anticipating Sunday.
big hugs,
Adele
I was thinking the same thing as Adele. Are't you from the NE???? Maybe it snows in NY but not Staten Island????
At least you have lots of fans to help you stay warm. See you in March!
You sure know how to work the crowd, Kasim. Thanks for playing great music, it totally inspires me
I haven't gotten anything other than beer thrown at me at concerts so if you ever want to throw picks at someone, I'm your girl.
It's cold, but we love you here!
I'll be warm for days after that awesome rock show. Thanks again for the experience of a lifetime.
I think we need to get a more flattering picture..
Maybe march 22?
I have a birthday right around then!
See you soon
Love
Caroline
Kas,
you and Todd are OVERDUE for a show down here in north carolina! how 'bout it? you can stop by on your way to florida, OK? :)
Awww, stop picking on Kas, Cold is COLD...and yea it gets cold in Staten Island, but not like in the midwest...we may have that big ocean next to us, but they've got that big mean lake that makes it so cold.
In any case...glad the gigs are going great, Kasim. It's a balmy 33 degrees here in NY. I'll be sure to check out your solo tour and catch ya then...as long as you don't bring the damned cold weather back home with you...deal???
Karen
Hi Kas,

Hello Kasim,
Great show in Indy! Thanks for the pix, they turned out really good you, me... not so much (guess not "a beautiful couple") ha
Hope to see you in Chicago. brrrrr
Take care,
Karen
Hi Kasim,
Why would you rock gods complain that the weather is freezing cold when all the groupies in the front row have their "headlights on" and big smiles???? Perplexing issue!
But, seriously, the two Blender shows I saw were incredible! Thanks a million times over.
Luv,
Michelle
that was so sweet to see them up front and smiling away. it IS sTRange how us wisconsinites get used to the weather so fast as it really didn't seem cold wed night at all.
thanks for saying 'hello' post-show on the aptly-titled
freezing our asses off tour!
Kasim,
My band mates and I are going to see you and Todd this coming Thursday at the "Park West" in Chicago. We rented a Limo to take us their and hope to get to the show early. I am proud to say that the band that I play in ( Looney Train ) plays classic rock as well as a Todd R song, " I Saw The light". Hope to see you and or Todd after the show if possible.

Hey Kasim
I had the pleasure of seeing you in Columbus in mid January. I must say, you look as hot as ever, and I enjoyed the eye contact.
Hi from Detroit...I saw the show at The Magic Bag in Ferndale, MI last night - the coldest day of the year so far (-20 or some insane number), and yet I left feeling pretty warmed up!
Thanks for a great night - I'm still smiling...or at the very least, my face is still frozen into a smiling position.
PS Here I am commenting on your blog, my years still ringing, busy downloading my photos and video clips from last night, and I haven't given my blogs much attention at all, lately. I will be writing about the show and posting some photos as soon as I have a minute.
Peace,
Lindy
Lindy-Ditto!! thanks for the great afterglow Kasim as special as you are to us, you make us feel that way to you. We 'duge' the show.
