Cleveland ROCKS!

Just got back from the second road trip in a week. I can not believe how far I've driven in the past 7 days. Between the trip to and from Greenvile on last Wed. Thurs. and Friday, then the drive on Monday to Cleveland and home this morning I've logged over 2500 miles in my car. OUCH.
Enough complaining ...
Last night was well worth all the driving a wandering minstrel could possibly do.
I played the Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland last night to a fully packed house. I've frequently mentioned how popular Utopia was in the Ohio area and I'm proud to say the same seems to be holding true for my solo career.
I had such a great time and the crowd could not have been more appreciative. I'll bet I knew at least half the people in the audience by their first name because it's these folks who have been so supportive of me over the years. Becky, Lou, Nicole, Beccie, Tweet, Tina, Heather, Joe, Al, Carla, Laura, Jennifer, Don, John, Mike ... everyone was there and made it a very special night for me. Especially when I started rambling on and on between songs and offended half the audience with my jokes! It really wasn't that bad. Ask Phyllis ... I spent most of the night defending his right to an alternate lifestyle.
Seriously, it was a really nice evening with friends and family. I'm well on my way to moving lock stock and barrel to Parma or North Olmstead Ohio (suburbs of the Cleveland area). I'm sure it's less expensive there than in NYC.
I've posted some pictures below of the people who were at the soundcheck.
I've also uploaded some new videos to Youtube for a little chuckle. See the above link for that address.
Thank you ALL for being there for me last night.

1490 Miles In 26 Hours

Wow. What a journey Phyllis and myself just got home from. We drove a total of 1490 miles to play a show in Greenville South Carolina. We left my house on Wednesday at noon and 2 gallons of coffee, a bagel store, a Shoney's, 3 gas stops and an endless stream of Christian & Country radio stations we arrived at 12:30AM the next morning in Greenville. Up early that day for a radio interview then a quick lunch, nap and soundcheck we played two 45 minute sets in a really nice club to a very appreciative crowd in a cool place.
The thing that made this whole trip worth while was the fact that I had never played a solo show this far south before. Of course, I wish I was on a tour bus with a nice bunk to crawl into or even -dare I say- a mini-van so at least I could have stretched out for a bit of a rest every so often but doing the gig in this manner made me realize how tough this is for all you fans that travel mile after mile to come and see a show. My hat goes off to you (even though I don't ever wear hats).
I wanted to thank all of you who did come to the show. I'd also like to thank Craig Debolt and Andy White for having me on The Buzzard Buffett. Oh, also the Buzzard Babes who helped introduce me to the audience at The Handlebar. Everyone at the club was so nice to me and Phyllis and I hope to return there in the not too distant future. I could not have made this trip alone and I'm having a moment here thinking about how lucky I was to have Phyllis along with me for the drive from hell. He ... I mean SHE ... is one funny Guy ... I mean GAL! After 10 hours in a small car you really get to know a person. The next 10 hours are spent praying to God it ends soon. The final 6 hours are filled with utter nonsense jabbering. Anything longer than that would have seen bickering and then the inevitable flurry of fists.
The best is ... we do it all over again on MONDAY! Albeit slightly shorter but the last thing I want to think about right now is getting in that car again to drive to Cleveland!
The one saving grace about that gig will be seeing so many familiar faces in the audience. I know it's on a Tuesday so for those of you who have work or school the next day, I'll be providing 'late note's' at the END of the show. You'll have to sit through 90 minutes of my warblings before you get it.
